I'm looking for a member that owns a 98-01 Grizzly 600 that would be willing to do some testing in exchange for money or parts.
On the 98-01 Grizzlys the 5GH servo motor assembly is sealed. Meaning the motor can still be replaced but the case has to be cut open and resealed to do it. This is the motor that comes on the 98-01 Grizzlys. Notice there are no screws.
I have found that the non sealed 5GH servo motor that come on some of the newer models will bolt up to the diff on the 98-01 grizzlys exactly the same. I have a spare diff for a 2000 grizzly so I know it will bolt up. Here is a non-sealed serviceable unit that can be easily opened and the motor replaced if the time ever comes. The plug is the same on both units.
What I'm not sure of and what I need help with, is seeing that it will actually function when plugged in. I have many members that send me the sealed assembly above to cut it open and replace the motor. If the servo assemblies are interchangeable like I think they are, the benefit will be that members with the older bikes and sealed units can swap over to the nonsealed units and have a serviceable servo assembly like the rest of us.
It would be a matter of someone removing the plug on their sealed servo and plugging it into the serviceable servo I send to you and seeing if it functions. If it does, I'll give you the serviceable unit for free and it'll have a brand new motor in it. If it does not work, I'll give you $50 for your troubles and of course I'll pay shipping and have a return label you can stick on the box and send it back to me.
If anyone is interested, you're welcome to give me a call at 501-658-0219, shoot me a pm or just reply to the thread. Thanks!
