Whats the law for riding on public roads in the snow? - Page 2 - Yamaha Grizzly ATV Forum
General Discussion Welcome to General Discussion. This is a general forum where we talk about anything that is NON-GRIZZLY related. Please post in the appropriate forum that relates (we have engine forums, tire forums, accessory forums...and all the others too) to your topic. This way when someone (including us) comes here to look for answers, it will be a lot easier to find info. If you are posting something in general that you cant find a forum for, then this is the place to put it. Thanks for helping us try to get the info organized.

i know here in NEW BRUNSWICK CANADA you have to be 21ft off the road at all time, you are only allowed to go strait across the road to a connecting trail, we have (off road enforcment officers) here we call em (OREO'S) and yes the winter is best for riding as we GROOM our trails

In maryland you are not allowed to ride anything on the road other then a tagged vehicle. I have seen some in an emergency get away with it, but it better be legit, and it was a snowmobile not a ATV.

in WV you are in many counties even without snow. and PA is by the county also. Alot has to do with the size of the roads. if they don't have lines normally they are fair game.

I have ridden in maryland on snowy roads, but never if there is other traffic. I don't want someone getting freaked out that I am on the road cause they weren't expecting it and then crash.

In idaho i have been told there is no state law against riding on the roads. However, there is a federal law that says it is illegal. My buddy says as long as you never run into a federal agent you are fine. I see them all the time on the road. My buddy drives his to and from work everyday in the summer. I have thought about it, but i live 1/2 mile from work. It snowed the other day here and i was driving the roads doing doughnuts and what not.
