Hello all,
I am wondering if anyone sells a kit to make your Grizzly 2-up, begin able to ride with a passenger. And is this legal in any states? My wife wants to go 4-wheeling but she doesn't want me to buy her one, she wants to ride. I would love to do this but I don't have any land of my own to ride so I would need to ride state/gov't owned land and they have rules/regulations. Any ideas would be great.
Thanks,
Greg

Greg,
I have not herd of anyone having a kit to make the Grizzly a 2-up. You can get a Rear Cargo Seat with foot pegs for your
wife to ride on..... at least she wants to ride as a passenger...... :-)
For rules/regulations sorry I can't help you......... I live in Canada..........
Regards

A rear cargo seat with added foot pegs will do what you want. They range in price from $50 for your basic canvass bag with foam seat to $400 for the deluxe rear cargo seat with passenger hand warmers, storage area, and brake light connection. As far as it being legal...you will have to call your local DNR or BLM office and ask them the question. In Alaska there are no rules outlawing passengers on ATVs. The only rule is that the passenger must wear a helmet. The driver does not.

Now isn't that funny.
Around here, our kids to have wear helmets on their peddle bikes by law, but as soon as they are on an motorized atv, it's not required.
Sorry to get off topic but that sentence made me think, who comes up with these rules?

Start shopping around for a rear rack seat. As far as legality is concerned my recommendation would be to get an ATV rule/reg book from your local DMV. In Minnesota it is legal to ride 2up with certain conditions such as if the passenger is under 18 they must wear a helmet and the driver has to be the legal guardian. There are a few other stipulations as well.
Check with your local DMV.
Good luck and ride safe.

Yep....you're going to have to check State laws regarding passengers on ATVs.
I realize that you don't live in Michigan, but here it is illegal to ride 2-up on a quad designed for a single rider, no matter what kind of rear cargo box / seat configuration you add. The law says that you can't carry any more people on the quad than what the factory seat was designed to accomodate.
Good luck!!

AS far as being legal I think it depends on how understanding your local police dept is. Ride smart

I don't know about laws, but I know that the manufacturers extend the wheelbase of their 2 up atvs by 10 to 12 inches. Its not for more room, but for stability. I don't know if that is some kind of requirement or not, though.
