Need help identifying year of 350 big bear

Hi there just needing some help to find out what year this big bear is. The serial number has been rubbed out due to a break line running beside it. Ive just got this bike given to me and started doing some work. Only thing i can make out on the serial number is the last few digits. Above where the serial number is it says 4/98. I understand this might be hard since im new to posting here and cannot upload a picture. If someone wants to help, maybe email me and ill send you the link to my flickr page. Sorry for the lack of info and i thank you for any help.

It may be listed on the emissions sticker (probably on top of the airbox) if it's still there.

Thanks for the reply but there is no sticker there. As soon as I reach enough posts I will be able to post a picture and probably speed things up a bit. Any idea how many years they used the red plastics?

4/98 could be the year of manufacture. So possibly a 1999?

Might check for an engine number, then call a dealer.

Thanks ill go check today on the engine and see what I can find. Any idea how different they made there rear axles from years lets say 1997-99? Rear axle is shot and im thinking about trying to find a used one, but before i do i really want to make sure about the year.

They usually have a manufacture date which is probably that 4/98 you found. Being that it is 4th month I would say your machine is a 98 model.

I agree. 4/98 is probably the year of manufacture.
