Coolant color ? - Yamaha Grizzly ATV Forum
General Discussion Welcome to General Discussion. This is a general forum where we talk about anything that is NON-GRIZZLY related. Please post in the appropriate forum that relates (we have engine forums, tire forums, accessory forums...and all the others too) to your topic. This way when someone (including us) comes here to look for answers, it will be a lot easier to find info. If you are posting something in general that you cant find a forum for, then this is the place to put it. Thanks for helping us try to get the info organized.

Coolant color ?

About to change all of my fluids in my 08 700 and noticed the rad fluid is dark brown. Im assuming this is just one of the colors fluid comes in..?? No water in crankcase or anything like that

The coolant in my 08 700 is green and it has 4500 mi on it! Have never seen dark brown coolant that wasn't in an old unmaintained cooling sytem. I would say you should flush your system with 50/50 mix of white vinegar and distilled water. Then flush with just distilled water and then add 50/50 mix of new coolant and distilled water.

They make some long life stuff that is usually a red color. If this gets a little old or dirty it can look brown much quicker than the green stuff would look brown.
