2018 Grizzly Thoughts / Rumors

Ok.. get all your moans and groans and " Arrg Not again, we do this every year" complaints out of the way.

There. feel better now ? Haha

So, This is the year I return from the Dark side. I had a 2009 Grizzly 700. I must have been drugged, because I made a big booboo and bought a Canam Outlander 800xt. Its gonna be 2 years this spring and I'm missing the grizz so bad. I am buying another one.

I just want to see if I should start shopping the 2017's or should I wait for the 2018 Release ?

Any rumors about changes for 2018 ?

What date does Yamaha release new model info ?

June-July.. ok.
Was hoping for sooner, but kind of expected as much.
I wasn't expecting any big changes, but you know the feeling.. You go out and buy the 2017 and when the 2018's come out they have some new cool thing you're new "old" atv didn't come with. Then everyone says " Ahh.. you should have waited for the 2018"

But if you wait till 2018 and they make no changes, then what do you do? Suppose the 2019 is totally different and exactly what you want, but you bought a 17 or 18? I did this years ago when I thought of buying a 14, but heard rumors they may change things, then the 15 came and was the same 700, and the 550 was dropped. Then I also heard "rumors" about an all new 700. Then they come out with a the Kodiak, and I didn't like them compared to the 14 and 15. So, then you go ahead and try to find a leftover that you want, and there aren't any within a reasonable distance. Honestly, i drove myself nuts doing this, and then you start dare I say on this site "looking at other brands", only to realize the Grizzly is the only way to go. Don't be like me, you will end up with nothing and very depressed about not buying when you have the chance.

I hear what you're saying, Its the stuff that keeps me awake at night. ha

But in this case I will be buying this spring and could wait a month or so if the 2018's were gonna be all new. Maybe they will change in 2019, but by then I'll have a lot of miles on my machine and will be ready for a new one. I've been on a 2 year cycle with new (or new to me) machines since 2002.
Id like to wait just long enough to have the 2018's revealed and maybe there would be some deals on the 17's

The engineers from Yamaha's Waverunner division were moved back over to the ATV division. They are gonna try supercharging the Grizzly 700 as well as utilizing their new NANO technology into the chassis and body parts.

We are gonna have HO (High Output) and SHO (Super High Output) models.

I could see them coming out with a se model that comes stock with beadlocks and aluminum skids like the wolverine se. That would be pretty cool. But i doubt any huge changes.

Surely they'll put the yxz 1000 triple in the 2018 model.... Of course, that will come with a redesigned trans to accommodate all that the extra power.

Well, the 660 came out in 2002. The 700 came out in 07, and the 708 came out in 2016.

They will probably be the same until 2026 LOL.

In all seriousness, I dont think you will see any changes for a long time. I read somewhere that sxs are outselling quads 2 to 1 right now. That could explain why Yamaha has introduced several new sxs models in the last 5 years, but only produce 2 quads.

The fact that the Grizzly is the best selling "big bore" doesn't give Yamaha too much incentive to make an overhaul.
