Alot of folks have asked about how to load .gpx files from traildamage.com to their GPS. I have writen a little something up and want to give it a whirl so here goes.
2. Double Click on the desired (GPS Exchange File) located at the bottom right of the page.
3. When file download prompt appears, click on save.
4. When the Save As prompt appears, save the file in a folder of your choice (mine is called GPS).
5. When Download Complete prompt appears, select close.
6. Open Mapsource and your folder with the .gpx file that you just downloaded.
7. Ensure Tracks tab on Mapsource sidebar is selected and then drag the .gpx file you saved from the folder you saved it in to the Mapsource sidebar. You can also copy and paste the file if you do not want to drag and drop.
8. On Mapsource, double click on the track to open the Track Properties up. Click on the Show On Map button in the lower right corner of the Track Properties box. The track will appear on your map. Close Track Properties Box.
9. Plug your Garmin GPS into your computer via USB cable. On the Mapsource tabs you will see a tab for Transfer. Select this tab and choose Send to Device.
10. The Send To Device box will appear and your GPS should show up in the window displaying Device:. Ensure that the Track and Waypoint boxes are selected and choose the Send button.
11. The transfer complete box should appear telling you that your data was sent successfully and you will then hit the OK button.
12. Remove your GPS from your computer and power the unit up. Verify Track is loaded on your GPS. You now have the selected .gpx as a track with waypoints on your GPS. This was tested on a Garmin 400 but should work on all newer Garmin GPS systems if using Mapsource.
