New Fiberglass Stereo
Hey fellas,
I've had the fiberglass stereo "coming soon" in my signature for forever. Well now its well on its way!! I've done a bunch of work on the new stereo recently and have just today gotten back from the local Line-x shop! I built it to hold 4 6.5's and 2 10" subs w/ a Boss amp. I also have a Knight rider 'chaser' for the front instead of plain strobes. For those who are from that era, you know why its cool . Anyway, I've got the new pics posted up so take a look and tell me what you think. Gonna start the process of wiring tomorrow so that ought to be fun! Later bros!!

Snake1, don't remember where I saw it but there is a new marine radio with a flip down face. Now that the face is down you can shove your iphone or ipod directly into it close the face and control all your songs with the buttons on the radio. It is completely waterproof!! Gonna get one pretty soon. Look in my garage it looks alot like the one i have. Good luck.

Looks good. Wish I had the skills to build one. Wouldn't like it all the time, but would be fun when you go to atv parks with allot of people.

Quadsquad,
I've seen those new head units!! They do look awesome.... BUT... this projects funding is almost out so I'm gonna have to get whatever I can for a head unit....
Ganny and Swamp,
This build wasn't too hard plus I found the perfect material at wal-mart for the resin to stick too. The hardener is the key to the resin, if its too much it turns to jelly lookin' stuff fast, if you put too little hardener, its a little more forgiving, just takes longer to dry.
As soon as its done I'll have pics and post a vid in the vid/pic section!!! Hopefully it will be soon, just waiting on the HU to arrive.

Sorry to bring up an old post but how did you mounting this to the racks? It appears the bottom is flat. Thanks

No prob Speed,
I have bolts through the bottom that line up w/ holes in the front rack. Drop it on and tighten it up w/ some regular nuts or some wing nuts. Finished product can be seen here

Looks great, but I gotta tell ya. If it was me, and I spent all that money and time... I wouldn't have gone so cheap with it. I'd have gone ahead and put in the walk in cooler and the stripper pole too!!!
Naww, seriously man. Awesome work!!!!!
Couple of questions. You've obviously got a lot of power runnin there... Are you running a second battery, and if so, does the bike charge the second battery or do you have to charge it separately?
Second question - have you road tested it enough to get a feel for what kind of heat that thing produces?
Again... great work!!!

Wow, nothing about this build was "cheap", but hey I didn't build it to "save" money!
I'm not currently running a second battery. You can put a second batt on one though w/ some sort of separator(not sure what its called) that will allow it to charge but not allow the system to drag off the engine batt. I have used it quite a bit and so far I haven't noticed any significant heat production. I did build a mount for the amp inside by putting some wood slats underneath so air would be able to pass under it. If you want I can send you a link to the pictures of the project from start to finish. It may give you some ideas.

I was only jokin' about goin' cheap, by the way.
So to cap it off, your charging system is able to keep up with the power useage of the amp? I would've figured that between the amp, the head unit and the Knight Rider light, there would be a helluva power draw.

I knew you were j/k, just yankin' your chain a lil. I've had the amp on and the head lights on high and they don't dim a bit when the subs hit.

Its not water proof. I could be if I would have went w/ all marine grade stuff but I didn't have the resources if you know what I mean $$$$$. It wouldn't take much to get it water proof though.

I suppose you need to draw the line somewhere!!!
Slick set up just the same, and if it comes off easy enough for the mud running days that works too!
Nice Job!

Oh yeah, it comes off pretty easily. Also though, it will take some moisture. Rain, mud splash, stuff like that won't hurt it. It just won't take submersion.
