I have the Warn 2500 winch, that came with the Griz 700 2007, as a special 69 dollar promotion in 2006. It was installed by the dealer
and seemed to be ok when I first got it. However, I never used it until almost 1 year later. It seems to run ok, but when it is under
load it will slip back whatever load it has. It didn't seem to be much of a bother until I hooked a plow on to it. I can raise the plow
to max, then over 30 seconds it will slowly decend to the pavement. Is there a fix, or is this something I live with. I am not too
impressed with the Warn product, to say the least.
The Warn 2500 should have a break. It sounds like it is slipping.May just need adjustment,a phine call to Warn shoukd help, just use the info Madmudder provided.

Thanks for the info guys, I will definately contact Warn, to see what avenues I have available to me. I may have to remove it
to do some kind of work, but that is better than the way it is now. It is the first winch I have ever owned, and wondered if a lot
of other people had the same situation...
Downeaster you have one of if not the best winches on the market. Warn has a great customer service relationship. I have never heard any bad things about how a customer was treated. A few years back I was at the Highlifter Mud Nationals and warn had a booth their. Those guys were offering all kinds of help to anyone with a warn winch regardless of the age or problem. They even rebuilt a few on sight. Some of the others are cheaper initialy but in the long run a Warn Winch is the best IMHO.
Hi guys I'm new to the forum but have recently had a similar problem. The winch on mine also let the plow fall, then would not lift it at all. It made a grinding sound and would not even wind up without a load. Checked here for ideas then contacted Warn. Seems that the 'sun gear' and the 'drive shaft' must be perfect. When I took it apart (twice) I noticed some wear on both parts and replaced them $35 Can. The sun gear was hard to see the wear but upon close examination hole through center looked oval. Now seems to pull fine. Waiting for spring for really good test but indicators are good that the techs. advise was correct.
