2016 Grizzly Viper Winch Install

Has anyone installed a Viper winch on a 2016 Grizzly. It is noted on their website, and a few members have noted here that grinding/adjustment has to be made to the bumper to fit 3K and up winches on pre 15' and earlier models. They do not have that warning for 16' and 17'. Curious if anyone has installed one on a 2016 Grizzly and how the install winch. Thinking about pulling the trigger on one. Kinda torn on Viper and Warn, heard Warn install can be a pain too.

Thanks!

I don't know about the 2016's but I can tell you my KFI 3500 install on my 14 was a breeze. But again, I don't know if it's a winch or new body style issue.

Warn 2500 on my Grizzly 2016. I didn't have to make any grinding adjustments. It was pretty simple to get it mounted and wired up. They wires they give you to connect to the battery are ridiculously long on the warn. So I simply just cut them down and put new ends on them so I didn't have about 5 feet of wire to hide. Under the front plastic where the battery sits, isn't much room to hide all the extra wires. I think it took me and my dad about an 1.5 hours to get it put on. But that includes us running to the store to get new butt connectors.

I called MotoAlliance before ordering with the same question, and they responded that there are no fitment issues with the 2016 Grizzly. I went ahead and ordered and can confirm that the Viper Max 3000# fits fine both with the stock grab bar and the Yamaha OEM HD bumper/brush guard.

So order away!

I believe the 3000 fit without any issues on the pre-2016 models, but the 3500 required some minor grinding.

My 3500 took a little hammering to fit, but was no big deal. 3k was the biggest that dropped right in. MotoAlliance is good to work with and they know their stuff so I would go with their word on it fitting without issue.

I put a 3K on my 2015 for the only reason I didn't want to grind or bend anything.
On mine everything went very smooth.
Used the winch a few times to get other out of trouble... Works flawless. Was harder to keep my machine well anchored on the trail, the winch was pulling me also.

Sorry, don't mean to hijack the thread but are you suppose to anchor yourself to a tree when pulling someone else out of a mudhole?

We will sometimes nudge up against a rock or another quad to keep the pulling quad from moving. A tree is a great anchor.... Some people actually carry a land anchor to winch against or from.

I put my Viper Max 2500lb on this weekend, to say the instructions suck is an understatement. There are no diagrams or real instructions you pretty much have to figure it out yourself which would have been really easy except they give a lot of extra screws, bolts, washers and other parts for certain applications so I was always wondering if I was doing it right. If I was doing the job again it would have taken about 5 minutes to mount the winch and handlebar rocker switch, but I wasted a bunch of time and quit before I started wiring. I will probably do that this weekend and they do give a lot of extra long wire so you really need to cut it off to the proper length and put new connectors on.
