Yamaha After-market Front bumper- Question
A buddy who has a Grizzly 700 is interested in getting this bumper, but I was wondering if in order to install it, the stock bumper has to be taken off? If so, he's in trouble because his Aluminum Products skids and front plate is on the way, and the top of the bash plate mounts to the bumper.
Here's what I'm talking about-
Yamaha Grizzly 700 Accessories, Yamaha Grizzly 700 Heavy-Duty Front Brush Guard
I'm trying to talk him into buying the SuperATV.com bumper, because it's a-lot cheaper!
Any input will be great!!

If the AP skids mount to the tabs that the plastic skids mount to on the stock bumper then you have no problem because the brush bumper has the same tabs as the stock bumber. DJ

If you enlarge the photo of the bumper - you can see the two tabs pointed inward twords the bottom of the downtubes; this is were the front bash plate bolts up to.
If the tabs on the new bumber are a tad off - you can easliy bend the top of the bash plate, or use some washers or spacers for the hardware store.
You should have no problems..........Good Luck!

I highly recommend that bumper, i have one on mine. The stock bumper is flimsy compared to this one, stock uses 3/4" tubing, the aftermarket is 1 1/4", and much thicker sidewall. Mine was super easy to install, everything that bolts onto the stock bumper will on this, everything matches up. This bumper strengthens up the front end greatly, no more cheesiness.

Haha thanks. Should have seen me the first day tryin to get it in there, took me a while, but now i can get in there first try all the time. My dad built that garage around a MG B and we got rid of it last year, and filled its spot up with the grizz, hehe.

The Yamaha brush bumper now comes with a black wrinkle paint finish to match the racks. Very nice!! However, they now call it a "Front Carry Bar" part #ABA-3b402-00-01.

Pollster, when I ordered this bumper I didn't know it came with the wrinkle paint finish. I had called Stadium Yamaha to verify shipping cost as this is an oversize item and that's when I was informed that there was a new part # and the part had been renamed "front carry bar". If you order with the new part # I'm sure you will get wrinkle paint finish. This is a recently updated part so it will take some time to filter into the Yamaha after market OEM part system. They had to order mine from the warehouse but they may have them in stock now.The finish matches the racks exactly and doesn't scratch as easily as a smoothe finish would. It looks really good on the bike. If you have any questions just call Stadium Yamaha. DJ

I would really like to see some good pictures of this.
$195 plus shipping? Can you tell me what shipping ran? I can get the original heavy brush guard from my dealer for $212 and my dealer is claiming that this one (the new part number) is a "brushed steel finish", although he admits he doesn't have a picture and doesn't even know what a "carry bar" is, so I have no idea where he got his information from.

I think it ran me about $230-235 shipped to my door. I personally dont care for the stock rack type of paint, really holds onto the dirt and when you rub trees. The smooth paint thats on the one i have has held up great, until i rolled the grizz on some rocks. Got some minor scraps, i just used fine sandpaper to smooth them out, and bought some krylon semi-gloss black and i cant even tell there were scratches. If i wanted to repaint the whole bumper, i would use herculiner, the stuff is really nice, used it on my racks and rack supports.

Thanks AZO8Grizz- that is what I needed to know - Yamaha is telling dealers they no longer stock the Heavy Duty Front Brush Guard. They do not indicated they have a new bumper available. They sold a lot of these and was surprised they offer no replacemant - probably the web site is running behind what is now in the inventory. I will probably keep the one I have since the new one is same - just different paint. THANKS

You can say that again! I *LOVE* the looks of that bumper. Honestly, I'm pretty well on the fence as to whether I would prefer it or the Yamaha one. I just need to decide if I prefer the idea that the bumper is stronger because it replaces the original or if it's better that it bolts on to the whimpy original, so that the original can act as a sort of "crumple zone" to protect the frame.
My third choice is the SuperATV, but I don't like it as much because of the very sharp looking points it has by the headlights... the thought of the Grizzly rolling on my and me being under one of those points does not sound very appealing.
