Loose steering on a 2006 Kodiak 450

Hi All,

My friend has a 2006 450 Kodiak with an issue. You can turn the handle bars about half inch each way with out the tires turning.
Now I have looked at this and the whole bar does turn top and bottom, but it seems like the tie rods need to be adjusted. Inner and outer tie rod ends look and feel snug so I am pretty sure they are fine.
Here is the question......if I adjust the tie rods, how can I be sure the tires are straight and not in or out a little.

Thanks for reading this all, and your knowledge would be great.

Exclamation

Hey I had the same problem with my 07 700.
I thought it was from the EPS who may have started to go or from the steering stem bushing.
It took me a while to figure it out but it turned out it had two loose(I mean very loose, about to fall out) bolts on the steering column right above the eps unit.
This could have ended bad!

You should check all nuts and bolts of the steering column.
