Tach signal

Hi guys I have talked about this a few times before and the general thought is than grizzies have "dirty" signal witch is true.My question now is has anyone tried to grab a tach signal off the injector instead of the coil??? injector is pulsed right from the ecu so I would assume it should be clean.Someone also mentioned you can grab it from the eps unit can't find the right wire looking at the pics in the service manual. Also I think than the eps signal would be no good if you have a dynatek unit because of piggyback feature.I know the msd GMR tach signal pickup will solve the issue but I am just being cheap for now!! I hope someone or myself can find a clean signal without spending any cash.Beer is getting pricey so gotta what the pennies!! LOL

Not a lot of people looking for a good clean signal. I have been looking and this is breaking news brought to live on Griz Central. LOL

what did you use to tie in ie inductive clamp or just run the wire that would normally go to the neg coil??

I have been trying to get a good signal and thought about the injector but innovate told me it would not work. Dyna said to use the wire from the eps to the ecu I think it was an orange wire. I haven`t had the chance to try it as my Griz is getting some top secret work done LOL

I ran the wire that would normally go to the neg coil side and ran it to the injector wire red with black tracer I tied into harness right at the frame by the exhaust cvt duct lots of space there to solder it in and weather proof your connection. GOOD LUCK!!

are you using a wide band if so what kind. I have a lm-1 and am having my doubts about it ever working as described.

no Mike I just have a tach/water temp gauge installed. Is it possible that your LM-1 has hi sensitivity (millisecond theshold)? my tach or any tach for that matter usuaslly has a wider time gap for pulse (in milliseconds of coarse) if your device is a hi end piece it may have very exact requirements or closer that normal like a tach.I would assume that the injector wire or the eps wire is going to be as clean as you can get as they come from the ECU I only assume that the ECU is very much like automotive in that this always your cleaniest source for output signal.I can also tell you (I am sure you already know) that garage in means garage out and there is only so clean you can get a signal where power use produce from an AC mag I am sure there are filters in the ECU but again how good are they?? GOOD LUCK.

I know the lm1 is sensitive because my snap on timing light has a tach built in and I get a good smooth signal from that.
