Headlights

I've done the search thing through 12 pages and can't find what I'm looking for. I want to change out the stock headlamp bulbs on my 700 with Sylvania Silver Star Ultras. My question is, is there a specific model # or is it that they fit all vehicles.

If you go into any autozone or parts store that handles aftermarket lights you can find them. Wal-mart handles them but they do not have the ultras. You want the 9003/HB2 or H4. Some have said that PIAA makes a really bright light also, do not know the part number for it.

I agree, but H4 is a general fit number. It is not the exact part number of the bulb.

BTW for us 660 owners the H4 is for the 700. The 660 takes the H6 and Sylvania does NOT make the Silver Star Ultras in an H6. But PIAA does make a bulb in H6.

The H4 refers to the fit style of the bulb. The H4 is made in many different ways. The Silver Star Ultras are a halogen headlight. Where as others, such as the HIDs are usually a xenon bulb. The 700 takes the H4 style with tabs that plug into a socket, where as the 660 takes the H6 with has two nipple connection dots at the base of the bulb similiar to the dual fillament brake/running lights in your car rear lights.

Are they significantly brighter than stock lamps? Where do you get them and howmuch do they cost?

With the 700 I would go with the Silverstar Ultras. They are much brighter than the stocks and very comparable to the PIAAs, and you will probably get them for half of what it would be for the PIAAs. If you got the cash, top of the line is probable a nice HID system. You'll have to search for some threads on them.

You can get the Silverstar Ultras at any Western Auto/Advanced Auto store, Walmart does not carry the ultras. If your not in a hurry, check ebay, they usually have several on there. Just search on "Silverstar Ultra H4".

Good Luck

Those H4 PIAA lghts those would also fit a '09 550.....right. I could get those off of the PIAA website. Or will a auto parts store sell the PIAA lights? And is it a simple plug and play. Not interested in wiring harneses.

Check out this tread for some tips on install. How good is the Grizz 700 charging system? They are plug a play, and will also fit the 550's.
