Griz 600 will only pull start

Ok fellas, please help. My 2000 Grizzly 600 will turn over all day with the electric starter but won't start - no spark when I pull the plug and ground it. Funny thing is it will fire up right away after two pulls on the recoil starter? Whats going on? I thought it was my ignition coil or pickup coil but if either one of those were bad then I shouldn't be able to start it will the rope, right? Please help, I don't want to spend a fortune at the shop and want to fix it myself. Thanks!

try putting a battery charger on it while using the starter. it might be a bad battery not having enough volts to run the ign while turning over the engine

The battery doesn't run the ignition though? Otherwise you wouldn't be able to pull start without a battery. Engine turning over in conjunction with the stator is what starts the spark series. Am I missing something?

Cant find this problem in any of his posts. I've found this discussed here once or twice but never a verdict on what the issue was. Anyone have ideas? Thanks!
