Grizzly 550 starts, dies, then starts just fine

My Grizzly 550 has had a curious habit, ever since I bought it.

When I start it cold, it will die right away. Virtually without exception. The second time it will start and stay running.

Anything simple I can do to fix this?

Thanks!

You can check the TPS setting on the pod. For a 700 it's 17 throttle closed, 99 @ WOT. Not sure about a 550. Have dealer check out the problem.

Mine does it too...almost like the fuel pump isn't primed all the way or something. Doesn't bother me too much but I would like to get it corrected.

I assume that the FI models like yours have an electric fuel pump. Next time you start it cold, try this: turn on the key switch, count to ten, then try to start it. If that helps, try cutting down the count each time to find the minimum time you need to wait to solve the problem. If that doesn't fix it...might be something the dealer can check or it may just be one of life's little annoyances.

I always wait until I hear the fuel pump not running, then I press the start button, but it never fails, it will run for 2 seconds, then die. The second start...runs like a champ.

Mine has done the exact same thing since I bought it. I haven't given it much thought or worried about it since on the second start it fires right up and runs great.

Thanks for the suggestion -- I tried this a couple times, but waiting didn't seem to make a difference.

I guess since this seems to be a common issue, and it doesn't really cause a problem, I won't worry about it. I was just worried that somehow I'd gotten a lemon, because I'd not seen anything about this posted elsewhere.
