Cool Freshly bored, do I need to rejet carb?

I just bored my 2002 grizzly 660 and am installing a JE piston (101mm new size, 10.75 compression, forged aluminum) Do I need to by a jet kit for the carb or can I just rebuild it? Or are those just for altitude/snorkeling changes? Thanks!

you need to read the plug but you shouldn`t need to rejet for piston size or compression ratio.

You should be fine without changing the jetting unless you make some mod's to the air flow also. I would check the plug anyway, you'll get an idea of how things are doing in there.

I would say to you that if your going to rebuild the carb anyway - you should re-jet because with a bigger bore your motor will want more air, if you leave the stock settings and suck more air naturally you will run leaner.

Now - I make the assumption that the carb is completely stock to begin with, and you don't have anything in there but the stock jets, needle & seat.

Since you went a bit bigger in displacement (bigger bore) the benefit of a jet kit and good air filter system will really wake the grizz up.

Thanks for the help guys, I ordered the jet kit of ebay. Unfortunately I wont be able to test it out until I replace a stretched out timing chain and sprocket
