so my computer is being difficult and not letting me search.. so all i have to say is this...went for a ride early this morning and now its sputtering white smoke from the muffler... what to do what to do? checked the oil and everything seems fine, too.
and what if its a cracked head or jug? :(
well, the grizz does stay outside by my boat just under a canopy and does get rained on alot, would that have anything to do with it?
X2 on what Jack said! Check the oil for milkyness. Do a compression test. If its a constant white smoke that doesnt go away, its more then likely a head gasket or cracked head/jug.

if your not overheating then I would have to say the exhaust packing is water logged. the sputtering could be a lot of different things. Bad gas, fouled plug. what machine are we talking about? I have also seen motors that have had gas washed cylinders smoke white. I have also seen some syn oils burn white so color doesn`t apply to old school theory any more. Like I said earlier if your not overheating or loosing coolant run it and see what changes.

we're talking about my 600.
by sputtering i mean its not constantly blowing white smoke. the engine runs fine like a brand new motor, but the white smoke sputters out if you get what im saying? im about to go pick up a compression tester from the local hardware store.
i did find out though that when i left it by my grandparents for 2 weeks that they kept it outside and it rained pretty much every day and it wasnt even cranked up for a few weeks, and right after the rain my uncle took it through a crawfish pond to rescue his stranded rubicon.
i do know too that before he took it out that he put gas from a tank that he found that was only 1/4 full, but i since refilled it. i did have problems with the float being stuck on the carb also.
just wanna tell all of yall thanks! checked my plug, everything was fine. checked compression, fine.
cranked it back up, a very little bit of smoke and i noticed water splashing out of the pipe.... left it run and after about 10 minutes it stopped... checked airbox, it was damp.. took the plug out and dry cranked it to make sure there was no water sitting on the head and everything was fine.. just waterlogged a bit in the muffler.
so to everyone here on GC i want to say thanks for all yall help!!!
