When in high gear feels like low

Just bought this 02 660 grizzly, My problem is when I select the High it dont seem to be in high goes very slow and engine RPMs go up but like it is in 1st gear and needs to shift. I hope somebody can help...

check belt and do some clutch maintenance clean and grease the rollers clean up the sheaves with some scotch-brite. what kind of oil u using? could be wet clutch slipping.

tjis thing has lots of power but it seems like stuck in 1str gear, I checked oil it was low used 10w40 oil Do I need to take clutch off to do the maintenance

The clutch likely has seen some muddy water, I had this happen to me, the mud will pack in the roller weights if the machine is running for a period of time before it gets swamped. You have a 3 hour job ahead of you, but hen you are done, you will know quite a bit about the workings of Yamaha's CVT.

I hope that, that 10w-40 oil you put in was ATV wet clutch compatible oil,, if not your wet clutch is slipping!!

Thanks for all the help ...yes clutch was full of mud and no grease. cleaned and greased and now runs like a champ.. The hardest part for me was the getting nut off, I had to get a impact gun...

Just a word of caution make sure your nuts are tight, I knoq ir sounds like common sense but after reading this and other ATV forums seems to be a common issue which can ruin your day and clutches in a short amount of time. And glad you had an easy fix.
