Installing wet clutch springs

Hey everyone in need of some advice form someone who has done this. Have my EPI wet clutch springs waiting to install. I have them attached to the clutch shoes on the outer rim but am having issues getting the spring to snap onto the inner end of the other shoes. Ive tried small vise grips and a pair of angled needle nose pliers but the EPI springs are pretty stiff.

LOL might of helped me think of the solution earlier any way. I figured a way to do it. I started by setting the shoes up on all five pins only at the top of the pins then I hook up all the springs and slowly worked the shoes down the pins until they bottomed out then the only trick was to use a large flat screwdriver to open one shoe at a time to get the lower pin its groove on the retainer plate.
