Cooling Mods

Hey people,
I'm curious about what can be done to imprive the cooling on the 600's The reason I ask is that I am thinking about modding the engine with more displacement and higher compression to get more HP, but the idea is pointless if you can't do this and still keep the engine from melting down, running too hot and damaging the internals and clutch components. I have thought about using a more efficient tube and plate type engine oil cooler with a high performance fan and relay tapped into the factory fan switch to turn it on and off but that's about all I can think of. Anyone who has done a big bore 600 like a 675 have any hands on info about the engine temps with the thinner sleeve please let me hear from you.

You can get a better fan. Nice ones on the cheap in eBAy.
I have two water temp coolers in my hose lines. I also did a fan override mod. Finally I use Engine Ice.

All can be found (except the fan) in my garage.

Good Luck!

600 COOLING

Man, great minds must think alike. I was just going to write a thread about this same thought. I to have been working on this same thing for a year or two, and heres what Im doing as we speak. I got a hold of my radiater shop and found a hyd. oil cooler for equipment and they are welding the fittings from the old one to the new one, as well as the mounts. heres what Im useing it has the flat plates but the vanes are hony comb with about 5/16 holes so the sticks and mud should flow through better and then the fan can do its job better. When I get it from the shop Ill post some pictures so everyone can see it. GOOD LUCK.....GREASY

Easy Mod's are as Mucky stated.
Engine Ice for a coolant, A good fan rather remote or thermostated, and a great little thing like the Hose Fin's.
They attache in line with your radiator hose and offer some cooling of water as it pass's thru the fin's.
Heck Mucky's got two of them baby's installed.

Yah LOL but I think you guys are forgetting one thing my old grizz is only equipped with an oil cooler no coolant, it's OK though I get your ideas. I'm thinking using something like a Dirale oil cooler and fan and was thinking about remote mounting it on the rear rack but need to get more info on the oil pump to find out if it's able to flow that distance up hill without starving the engine for oil.
