I heard of this a few times on here. The problem was fixed by using a small set of vise-grips to get the screw out. Then get new screws at the hardware store.

Vice grips, but if that doesn't work then take a Dremel tool or something like it and grind out a spot on the screw head that a straight slot screwdriver will fit in. Don't grind down too deep though, you don't want the head breaking off when you try to do it. Then go get some allen head bolts that will fit.

X2 on replacing with allen head screws. Needle nose vise grips worked for me.
Good luck!

Use a metal file on two sides of the screw and a small set of vice grips. I replaced my screw with some 1/4" topped screws so that I would not have the same issue again do to the mud and dirt that we ride in.

Its awesome how many roads lead to the same destination, I used the dremel but ground the edges flat to get a good grip with vise grips then replaced them with hex head screws from the local hardware store

not positive think they were 4 or 5mm x 1mm thread pitch Once you get them out bring them into the local hardware store and they'll have what you need I like the allen head ones myself.
