98 600 grizz starter bendix

Hello all,
does anyone know how they work? When the starter is engaged, it spins the bendix, then when starter stops the bendix freewheels. Is there a roller bearing inside it? Thanks everyone...

You know I really never took a bendix apart all I know is as the starter is energized and begins to spin the bendix slide out and meshed to the flywheel and then when power/torque is stopped to the motor it retracts. Not sure if it uses a ramp inside that works on centrifugal force or what.
