98 grizz 600 oil filter change

Ha all,

I just change my oil and filter for the first time and wondering what the screw is for on the top of the oil filter cover. Do I need to bleed the system? Thanks for helping...

I looked at that same screw the first time I did the oil change too, the factory service manual doesn't say anything about it during oil filter change at all even though it is shown in the pics. I was wondering if maybe it was put in by the engineers or something as a possibility to install another sensor or something later on in development..... who knows but no you don't need to bleed anything, just make sure your oil level is up to but not over the max marks in the oil level window while ATV is level and then recheck oil level after you run it for a few minutes.

That screw is there so you can determine if the oil pump is working. Crack the screw open, and oil, under pressure, should issue forth.

There's a similar screw (called a union) on the upper right of the head, so you can see if oil is being delivered to the rockers/cam/valve upper ends.

More good info thanks guys... I love this place. Too bad the Pooooolaris forum doesn't have the wealth of knowledgeable people this forum does.
