AB, the shims move the primary (movable) shive out and allow the belt to be lower in the primary, giving you more low end torque. there are videos on youtube I just not sure where they are.

Search "grizzly clutch kit" or clutch work do yamaha grizzly and the vid should come up
Also, our member "Muskeg Affair" did an awesome thread on the shim install process.

AB, shims are an easy install, what thickness you thinking about going with? Like stated above You Tube has some videos, the most important thing is to make sure you have some splines showing through otherwise you'll strip them out. Also, 1.5mm was all my 660 would accept, some are lucky and can fit 2mm, but most people I know 1.5 was the limit on the 660. One of the best, cheap, easy mods out there. If you run into any problems let us know and we'll help ya through it. Good luck.

Check out wun's clutch kit thread exposed for part # and other good imfo. They are yamaha snowbobile parts listed and can also. E had on e-bay. 1.5 mm seems to be they most popular, just make sure you have the splines left on the shaft for them. If your stock this is probably all you'll need in way of mods and very noticible. Secondary springs or wieghts could be next but try shims and see what you think

Your a "fast one"eh? When I did my shims I lose some. My top speed right now is about 54mph. soooo, maybe I lost 7 mph? I feel it's well worth it.

The info i used first time was at "nyroc yamaha 660 clutch maintance". I recon if i still drank it would lean to 10 beer if you do the regreasing of the clutch. Use the bolt that hold the cage on to spread the secondary. Torque is more like 80 ft lbs. use socket extension to floor board to torque on and off.

AB, as Pepper said "use the 2 longest bolts you remove from the CVT cover to spread the secondary clutch". Thread them all the way in alternating them as you go and you'll see the belt drop down. A impact gun is preferred if possible for loosing and tightening the 22mm nut that holds the "Primary" clutch on.
You guys drink those BIG Fosters down there so I imagine you don't want to drink 10 before you start, maybe 1-2. Good luck bud!
