back firing, blowing flames out the pipe and red hot exhaust ?

i'am wondering if anybody else has run into this, i installed a 2mm shim today and then went to try it out, ripped around in some mud then just puttered down the road, then it started to rain so i punched it out and ripped down the road at about 3/4 to 7/8 throttle for about 2 miles, when i let off the throttle it started to backfire and was blowing 3ft flames out the exhaust, now( i have taken the spark arrester out of the stock pipe just to see how much it holds back) anyways when i got back to the garage i noticed that the exhaust pipe was glowing bright orange and hot!!!, and melting the plastic around the back of the exhaust, now i realize that the spark arrestor is there to keep flames down but ive never seen a pipe that hot before any ideas or is that normal or could it have something to do with clutching or hard work turning big tires ,

imputs anyone

Sounds like running rich and unspent fuel burning in exhaust. check your air filter and plug. was it hitting the rev limiter? Do you have a programmer etc?

yeah i guess it wouldn't hurt i only have 25 hrs on it they shouldn't need adjusting . i put the spark arrestor back in as well , my buddy said that it runs leaner without it and it is lean popin not too rich, figured that it might be overworking itself at higher speeds and that they run quite lean right from factory because of emmission stuff, but i thought that efi would compensate but i guess thats why they make programmers,

but it seems to run better with the arrestor back in it but i lost a little top end
