Noisy Wet Clutch?

Well a buddy called me as he put a clutch kit in his grizz. I have one in mine. He said it was making noise, really loud. So I asked him to check a bunch of things.

Now he has it down to just the wet clutch cover on, and nothing else. and its making noise. Any ideas why the wet clutch would be rattling? I had him check that the washers under the E clips were on correct, says they are. That there is not excessive play in the shoes. All good. any ideas? The one way bearing is installed with the "Outside" facing out. Anyone?

Well problem solved. I talked to them, and broke down via parts micro fiche what it could be. I suggested the one way bearing. I guess a few rollers fell out when they were installing it (never told me that till I asked), and they put one of the teardrop shapped rollers in backwards. so the bike performed fine, but made a lot of noise.

glad ya got it fixed. That 1 way brg seems to cause people more problems than not. seems like any time someone asks about a noise on the clutch side its that brg.

Ya, well had they told me it fell apart that woulda been the first place i looked. But I was over a week ago when they were working on the bike, and it was installed correctly, so I figured it was good to go. The bike only has maybe 400km on it.

The noise is not constant. Its random. Might do 3 quick ones and shut up for a min. Then go every few secs for 10 or whatnot.

It was one roller out of id guess 15 or so was backwards.
