The new 2009 Griz700, although it looks similar and there are hardly any changes from the past models. I today found out one that I consider big. That is the 2009 has an oil cooled stator. This is important to me as I burned one out. Replacement was upwards of $400.00. You can see the oil line on the left side of the machine through the plastic cut
out. It is a thin tube feeding directly into the
stator assembly.
It appears Yamaha was having a number of problems with stators getting too hot and burning out. So now the 2009 Griz700 has a stronger stator which is cooled by oil.
