Griz CV boot clamp

Hi guys, its been a wile.I had a small issue with my bike. The right rear smaller CV boot clamp "slipped" toward the tire on the axle.It was still on the boot, taking it with it. It some how got "free" from the grove on the axle that holds it in place.I removed the small and large clamps and inspected, the CV grease is still nice and clean.Question, have any of you guys re used your CV boot clamps. The Yamaha ones on my Griz are one piece clamps. For lack of a better discription they "cam over"to squeeze the boot on to the axle, then you secure with the tabs.To just change a CV boot clamp the whole axle will have to be removed. So I just re clamped the origional ones and all seems fine. Any body have any feed back on this? Thanks in advance.

Considering it slipped off, i would not.

I have used after market bands by moose. They can be applied with the axle on, as the bands open up. Little tricky to put on, but i have not had a problem with them.

Or you can just peel up both of the little tabs that hold the band tight. That goes for OEM and moose.

I just had one slip off while on a ride at H&M with a fellow GC member. Haven't fixed it yet, but I'm planning on trying to use the factory clamp. I think it will be ok, as long as you don't break the clamp. EPI has new ones, as well as the tool to get them really tight. If things don't work out, I will be placing an order.

YD I use a set of those at work. They are designed to use 2-1/2 inch drive ratchets/breaker bars and or a torque wrench. There is a torque spec (at least for cars).

Here's a tip from fellow member jfer. Get a couple of large adjustable hose clamps and throw in the box. Then when you might have a band come loose/pop off you can put one of the clamps on and continue to ride without fearing for water/mud to enter the cv boot.

I rode this weeked with the origional boot clamp re positioned on the axel.Kept a keen eye on it, all seems well.I did get stuck in a deep hole for about a half hour, couldnt see the rear tires at the end before getting out.So, do I re inspect or leave it be? Damed if I do, damed if I dont. What you guys think?
