I hear where your coming from but rezing old threads is better, to me, than the same thread over and over with the same answers over and over...
that said, new guys should recognize that the thread is really old and the dicussion is probably over. so when someone rez' and old thread with a new question then it needs its own thread.
if these old threads shouldnt be rez'd then maybe they should lock after X amount of time. still viewable but not able to be posted in. But even then if there are questions on the topic new threads with the same ol' stuff will pop up.

not disagreeing, just my 2c.

(p.s. sorry for the horrid spelling. im tired. lol)

Hey Grizz189 Every time you POST on a old thread it brings it out of the archives and make it a active topic!
When I was new I didn't post a new Thread for months until I had something to post that wasn't already on the site. If you look at all the post count I have, only maybe 10 of them are for a NEW THREAD.

Hey guys what wheels should I buy...
Seriously, it is not hard to be sure that the question you want to post hasn't been beaten to death. Yes the search engine can be no help at times (just type in GPS and you'll see 0 results) but I would rather respond to a question that doesn't start " Hi I am new to the site what tires should I get" Everyone has done this, yes myself included so you can't be too hard on new members for this. I found that I don't mind answering a tire ? like "Hi been searching tires and have narrowed it down to type A or B this is my riding style and the terrain what do you think is better? " As far as bringing back old threads I like reading the old posts with updated responses from the original poster and the newer members, Hell some of them I missed the first go round and would never have read.

I may not have a lot of posts here, but I have been on forums like this for years. The most annoying thing I see is "senior members" telling the new guys to search. If a "senior member" is going to tell someone to search, the "senior member" should offer a link to a relevant thread to help the new member with their question. That is what I do, and I think others should as well. As often as not, a search will give a dozen pages to sort through. Who wants to do that? A short, precise answer is the best kind to give. "Hey newbie go search" is not productive.

IMHO---The most important part of a thread is the title. A good title for every thread makes the search function much more friendly to use. Instead of "I have a steering problem" for a title, try "I bent a tie-rod" or "My EPS isn't working". A good title really does make a difference.

Most of the members do this also at least I know I will always try to. The only time it bothers me is when you put up 4 thread links for the person and they don't even give a response if noticed or of help to them. X2 on the thread title.

I try and put in links to the posters questions when I use the "do a search line". Sometimes I don't have time to find the link for them, so I won't add one. That being said, in the time the took to post the question in the first place they could of searched, and may have found what they wanted. Every now and then i get the feeling some people are just a little lazy, and want others to do the work (search) for them.

The same ole same ole gets to be frustrating some times. Not to mention the ones that don't ever reply back as to weather or not they found what they were looking for. Also aggravating are the ones that don't know how to use the rep+ or thanks button, or just choose not to use it, whatever it may be.

Bringing up old threads is a way of searching and some old threads have a lot of useful information in them. I like DD did alot of old post reading before I ever posted. I spent 2 weeks reading a researching tires, never needed to ask a question that had been asked 10 time before, to make an educated descion and buy the ones I found suited me best. Did the same thing when I was reaserching bumpers.

Just my thoughts on the whole subject.

I was just trying to point out that not everyone has 2 weeks worth of afternoons to research tires, wheels, bumpers etc. Some of us have 2yo daughters to run us around!

I also use the search feature alot. Spent 2 hours last night (after the little one was sleeping) to decide how I want to eliminate the reverse limiter.

One more thing to consider, on many other forums that are remarkably similar to this one, dragging up a thread that is more than a month old gets ragged on just as much as not searching.

I'll add 1 more thing I cant stand . If your a new member and don't want to search thats one thing but when you first register do you really have to come on and post 15 threads all asking the same crap. Geez give me a f***in break why don't you guys at least post an introduction first, ask a question in a thread, and then try to contribute to what other members are posting. Everyone seems to have this It's all about me thing going and it's getting old fast! BTW this reply is all about me! LOL

Take it easy Butch breath deeply.
I understand what bore_pig is saying, However bore_pig this is not any other forum this is Grizzly Central we have rules like all the rest. I belong to 10 sites and EVERY one of them a bit differant.
As an example Go to NYROC and take a look at the thousands of threads, talk about a search.
The only way to NOT end up like that is to educate newbies to think before they post. If you don't have time because of the 2 year old then wait till there in bed as some of us do.

You know, I used to get on here and post things that happened on a particular day or to mention a certain discussion I had with someone. Since the "bitching" and I did say "bitching" about people posting topics that have been mentioned before, I have cut way back on my post. I guess I let the complainers get to me. For that matter, how 'bout one of you admins make a post that says "*NOTICE* everything / every topic has been covered and furthermore we're sick of hearing about how excited you are to have a new ATV so this website is now closed for further discussion". If you need to know something, do a search!

i dont think anyone has ever complained that someone posted an original thought or wanted to share their machines with every one. but the same questions over and over and over get a little tedious. and if the duplicate posts are allowed pretty soon the guys that know the answers will stop answering the question AND advising that they search for a post that will answer. This wont be good for the new guys that think that they are just being ignored. as far as im concerned advising someone to search for the answer is as good or better than just giving them your answer, because your giving them everyone else's answers too.
