Extended Warranty

Thoughts and Opinions please ...

Pick up the new Grizz 700 on Friday. Base warranty is 6 Months.

I can purchase the extended warranty for an additional 24 months for $1400.00. Yes things are more expensive in Canada A.K.A. we git ripped off !!

But the question is, is the extended warranty worth it ???

Personally, I didnt go with it, I as well are from Alberta and i just couldn't justify the extra money. After doing ALOT of research on here and alot of great input from the members, the grizz is a very well made machine and reliable. Id say you are good to go with out it. That's just my 2 cents

Congrats by the way and ride safe!

Hey Collin
I bought a 4 year extended warranty from Yamaha and it is a good thing I did.
The 07 700 EPS has had at least 7 times the $600 dollars I paid for it returned to me in warranty work from Yamaha and they never charged me one cent. Yamaha replaced things that I thought were normal wear items and they would never cover.
I must get defective units because things tend to break around meJ
For the first 8000 miles this grizzly was TOUGH. Just brake pads, boots, and they are normal wear items.
The grizzly now has over 9000 miles and I’m still beating on it. It’s never had the valves done and it still has the original drive belt in it. (But my revs. verses ground speed seem to be up)
I just bought a 09 Grizzly and of course I bought the 4 year warranty. I’d be crazy not to.
I also bought a 4 year extended for my 09 Nytro snowmobile based on how well I’ve been treated by Yamaha. This has been about factory warranties.
Had an after market extended on a popo 800 and also had thousands of dollars of repairs but I also got “That’s not covered” a few times and had to spend $1500 out of pocket. (The 800 was totaled by my insurance company, did I tell you things tend to break around me?) Also collected much on an aftermarket for my popo 500 which is picking out a tombstone.
I tell you this as background to try to help you try to come to a decision on a warranty.
These 700s are Tough. If you ride family style for not too many miles a year over decent trails you probably will go far beyond the covered period before anything major needs to be done so you may not need an extended as YAMMY550 said. But if you ride really hard over really tough terrain you may be glad you did.
There is also the piece of mind aspect and your financial status to consider.
Bottom line-- You have to juggle all the info and make your own decision.
Good luck with your new ride and your decision.
Bob

PS Like AZ08GRIZZ I also saw a 4 year extended for $400 on the web.

I've had my 700 since 11/07 and have yet to have any thing brake that I didn't force it too.
You know what I mean?
AKMuddy was checking on line the other day and Yamaha has NOT had a re-call since 05
Where as Polaris has on going re-calls for just about every thing to date.
I did buy the extended plan, but thru a seperate agency at a good price. Looks like I won't be needing it tho.
