Question Need some help understanding model numbers!

I have a PDF service manual for the 550 and 700 Grizzly. It covers the YFM5FGY, YFM5FGPY, YFM7FGY and YFM7FGPY.

I have a YFM5FGPAGR. I know that the 5 means 550 and the GR means green. What does the rest mean?? Can I use the service manual for the other models??

Thanks!

Not sure but I would say it safe to use the manual, I'll check on those model ID's later.

Talking We can get it done!

I can not believe that no one seems to know what the Model numbers mean. The SERIAL number is easy as that information is in the owners manual.

If everyone looks at their Model number and replies with that and what they have, maybe we can figure it out.

I have a YFM5FGPA. The dealer paperwork lists it with a GR on the end, possibly for the color green. It is a USA spec 550 Grizz with EPS. My Owners manual also covers YFM5FGA. Could the missing P be for power steering??

The same owners manual also lists YFM5FGHA and YFM5FGPHA on the cover. They must be quite similar to my Grizz to be included in the owners manual. Possibly the HA is for another country, so the warning labels would be different??

Thanks, Boucherman.

Not really sure about the Model numbers meaning.
I guess I never gave it much thought since I know what I have.
Of course I forgot to look it up when i got home the other day but I'll try the Yamaha site while I got some time at work.

YFM5FGPYB is a Black 2009 550 Grizzly FI 4X4 w/EPS

The best I can decipher from the manuals I have, it appears that YFM = Grizzly, 5 = 550, 7 = 700, FGP = ESP, Y =?, and B=Black

Model designations are as follows :

550's w/EPS : 34D1, 34D5 and 34D8

550's w/o EPS : 28P1 and 28P5

700's w/EPS : 43P1, 43P3, 43P8 and 43PA

700's w/o EPS : 5C0A and 5C0C
