Silicone spray is excellent for keeping rubber soft I use it on the weatherstripping when I detail my vehicles to keep the rubber from drying out and cracking. It's good for anything rubber or plastic really.
The best use I have found personally for silicone spray is the deck of my tablesaws. Silicone spray will penetrate the magnesium deck or aluminum a little and dry and make the surface super slick. It will not transfer to the wood you are cutting after it's dry. Makes for easy ripping.
I use it on the bunks of my boat trailer. Boat slides on and off much easier. The CRC brand bottle of Silicon is a fraction of the cost of "Liquid Rollers".
