Hummmm well I bought two of them and I get a noise from hell ... It sounds like the piston is going through the heads .... It doesnt do it when it is under power , like up a hill ounce it gets a speed it doesnt matter if its ten or thirty . Then you can here it banging .... My wifes is or has no noise
took it to the dealer and they dont here it ...iTS THERE ....any help with that ...Thanks i JUST had the neighbor over and he can here it also ... not from the belt side ....I jacked the rear end up and it sounds like the head is going to come off ...Only when it is at a solid speed ... 15 20 what ever not on acceleration.

Did you pull the plug and see if it hitting it?

No I didnt pull it ... When the machine is sitting in neutral and you ges it there is no noise. I know its crazy. ( hopefully I m not .)

Does itsound like it's coming form the top? Could be excessive valve clatter from loose valves.

Thats what i was thinking. Ive NEVER owned a Yamaha that didnt have some kind of clatter... Never was too God awful bad

Now when it is in neutral you cant here a thing ,, mortor seems just duckie...I jacked the rear up but then I can here it ( some )

well if it isn&#39;t hitting the plug then, it has to be the valves.

BUT Why then doesnt make a sound when I just sit there reving it in neutral ????? I just dont have a clue???????????

Now I have figured it out . After tearing it apart ,(plastic). I found out that Yamaha didnt install the air box top on ... So the clips were off and everthing was shacking and rattleing. Boy it drove me crazier than I was ...Thanks everone for helping
