Monster Grunt Clutch Kit
I just got the Monster grunt clutch kit with 8 weights instead of the standard 4, I run a 06 Grizzly 660 with 27'' mud lites.
So my question is install just 4 or all 8 even tho the instructions call for 27'' and below install 4. Would all 8 make a diffrence and will it hut the machine if i put all 8 in ???

i just bought epi 14g weights. put in 4 W/ 2mm shim mod. seemed work, but i still want to 8. make sure if you have to change your housings not to crack them. took mine apart last nite found 2 were split open. they could not havr been working properly. no ride this wkn waiting for housings to come in.

Hard to say without knowing how much they way each. Most likely if you put all 8 your machine will rev to high when you are cruising along and you'll end up pulling four of them back out. weigh one of them, how many grams?

Since 50% of the job is removal of the floorboards and side cover - I would suggest you install 4 weights and test ride w/o installing the floorboards or side cover (just be carefull not to get your pants caught in the belt while riding).
After the initial test with the 4 weights, remove the sheave and install the remaining 4 weights and test again. This will be the easiest way to determine what is best for you.
I would suggest a machined sheave with a billet spacer plate to regain some of the top end you will loose with the weight kit - but that is just my opinion. You should be able to search the posts for my install on the machined sheave and see if it's to you liking.
Best of luck!
JT

im running the 8 weight set for 26-27 in tires with the spacer and 27 inch tires. I only lost about 2mph off the top and it doesnt seem to low geared. As a matter of fact i was expecting more change in the low end then i got.
