CV clamp
During the first day of my Colorado Ride, I ripped my outer CV Boot with my Ricochet CV skid plate. Another rider and I pushed a big tree off the road, and a branch hit my CV protector and bent it against the boot.
Went about 100 yards and noticed a weird noise, saw the protector with grease on it and used the winch from the other ATV to bend it back.
puffed the boot back into shape, greased it up , cleaned it, duct taped it shut, and put almost 1000 miles on it.
Well today, with new boot in hand, went to replace the boot.
One, learned how amazing duct tape is. After removing everything and peeling the old boot off(duct tape still on it) saw that there were absolutely no contaminates in the boot. In fact. Corked bottom of boot once removed and filled it with water and no leaks (despite an 1.5 inch gash held tight with duct tape.
The other thing learned is that those silly clamps used to hold the boot on are a pain to put on. Is their a special tool for doing it? I managed to get the inner clamp on with a pair of chanellocks. The outer clamp, though, the channellocks did a mighty fine job of shredding the tang used to gripping.
Now will need to search for a tool to close the clamp, and a new clamp, as I pretty much mangled the original removing it.
Thanks for any help in either identify a tool and/or identifying a source for those clamps. Don't want to hose clamp it, but will if have to.

It's not the first time the Ric's have eaten a boot because the wimpy tab that's supposed to protect the boot easily bends into the boot and destroys it!

Ricochet A-ARM FIX Here. It looks like he(atvrocks) may have a better design for the front, but it looks like they let a lot to desire for the rear A-Arms.

Can't complain too much about Riccochet skids, purchase used off of here in January.
Will be stopping at pep boys, they seem to have bands in stock@ 1.199 so will buy a bunch and try to get it done tomorrow.

You should be able to get a band clamping tool, a "loaner tool" from most auto parts stores.

Scooter, thats the thread I was looking for, thanks. As for Remy's rear A arm guards I don't see an issue.

perhaps you should try zap straps. Get the good plastic ones. Keep a few of them with you when you ride so you can fix other peoples machines in the field.
forget the steel straps they are hard to get right.

Took shaft and boot to local ATV shop that I do a lot of business with, they put a new strap on for me for nothing.
So strap is fixed and ATV is back together.
Still interested in the tool and having spare bands with me.

I bought my cv boot band tool at auto zone for $15. Ordered a front cv boot. It comes with bands and grease.
