Well, I wish it was as simple as, "Give me your money, here's your title and new quad", but it's not. I owe more than it's worth and the Credit Union I got the loan from has the title to it until it's paid off. So.... I can't sell it for pay-off, not to mention it needs a some work. Also, I can't come up with the extra cash to pay the difference in value at the time of sale to get the title.
So, what can I do to make selling the bike possible people???
I'm all ears.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (mark21 @ January 28, 2008, 9:42 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div> The answer you probably do not want to hear is to double up on payments. Contact the loan holder and see if you can make extra principle payments and also check to see if there is a penalty for early pay off. The more you knock down the owed value the better off you are. My advice has nothing to do with selling your quad, just putting you in an all around better position to do so.
And since we're talking money, let me share this with everyone. I used Yamaha Financing and I recieved the title right then and there. They didn't hold it as ransom because I agreed to pay them so much per month per so many years, with or without the quad, I had a legal binding document saying I would pay them. Now using the above mentioned method, it is all said and done. I took it home in October 07, now it's paid for.
The reason I shared this is that some people go to their banks to get better loan rates, but when they do this, it is the same as buying a car usually. The bank gets the title, and you get the payment book. I used Yamaha, got the quad, the title, AND a credit card with a positive balance. I know this is not really relavent to the question at hand, but even still it's good to know stuff.
But my advice stays the same. Work that payment down, even if it means waiting a bit to execute your plan. It will be well worth it further down the road. Hope this helped at least a little bit.

This may not help out the situation and better, but you could trade it on something else if that's what you want anyway.
The new payments will suck but so does double payments. Remmeber you still owe the money not matter what.
If you don't want the quad and need to sell it get what you can get and get a home equity for the balance to pay off that loan to recieve the title.
Not the best but some ideas to work with.

Alright... thanks fellas for the help. I don't know what I'm going to try and do. I really need to get rid of it. The doubling of the payments just can't happen and I already have the new quad, my Grizzly.
So, It looks as though I'm stuck for a while, huh?

Sounds like your stuck man until you get it paid down enough. I would say make the best of it and do the work on it. Then you have a second machine for the wife/gf or a buddy to ride with you.
You probably should have tried to trade it in when you bought the new one. That would be about the only way to get rid of it and the payment on it too. They would have rolled the negative equity into the new Grizzly then.

Rent it out to Mack, and after a month or so, you'll have enough money to pay it off and buy another Grizz.lol

yeah guys... but mack, that's the thing. Even if I do give a good deal, which I would(will), I don't have a title to give with it. So, what would I do? Is there like a bill of sale I could get notarized or something to make it a legit transaction?

Myself, I wouldn't buy a vehicle without a title.
Mark21, what you could do is get a small, personal loan for the difference between the selling price and the amount owed. Then take the 2 checks to the lender to pay off the loan and receive the title. Tough to do when buyer and seller live in different locations.
It sucks when someone gets upside down on the loan/value of the vehicle, but that happens as soon as you leave the dealer's lot!

In MA you can sell and register a ATV w/o a title/certificate of origin. IF IT IS USED (which in most cases is fine, if you dont have a cert of origin or copy of and its brand new, its obviously stolen). Again, in MA all you need is a bill of sale, w/ a description of the bike and vin number, both parties sign and your good to go.
I sold my bruin with a bill of sale, then I took that money and paid off the loan, then sent the cert of origin to the guy.
I only had to pay $50 more to get it..sold for 3100 I owed 3150..it was a good thing because I had bought the grizzly before I sold the bruin and the bruins next monthly payment was closing in.
Hang in there, try to fix what is wrong, clean it up realllly nice, hopefully it will work out for you.

yeah man... it's fairly well for being a 4x4. I mean, it's not gonna handle jumps like a sport quad, but it will definately air out some jumps. It was a nice quad.... I just needed something different.
