so I just bought a 2002 kodiak 400 automatic and rode it for a whole day and it was fine. I cleaned the carb and changed all the fluids and I took it out riding again. After a few hours it began to lose power and now i cant even get it over a small hill with out gunning it. Does the cvt need to drained? I read that water in your cvt can cause this, if it is the cvt how do I drain it? is the belt burnt up or something? I rode it through alot of thick tight trails and deep muddy water. Any info on how I can fix this would be greatly appreciated.
Im not sure if ur machine has a drain on the bottom of the cvt but my 06 kodiak does. Its a plastic plug on mine. Pop it out with the machine tilted to that side and see if that works.
My son has an 02 400 kodiak and no drain plug on cvt. You would have to unbolt the cvt cover.

I have a 2002 kodiak and there is a drain bolt underneath it.Iv drained mine a couple times. Swamped it in water and would not even move and I took that out and it pissed water for 5 minutes. It was fine after that.
