2002 yamaha kodiak 400 top speed?

I got my kodiak up to 44-45 mph today on a paved road. Is this the normal top speed? I feel like it should be more like 55 mph. I just did a bunch of maintenance on it and their was a bunch of water in the snorkel and clutch and everything. It looks like the atv was swamped and hopefully I fixed it. what else should I do to ensure its running properly?

That sounds about right, my 450 does around 50 mph, tire size, type of tires and weight contributes to top speed.

That's about what my stock 02 did on hard packed dirt with 5lbs of air pressure and stock Dunlops indicated by the factory speedo. I would think your body weight would also have an affect. I am around 145lbs.
Just tonight, I ordered a set of 26" Kenda Bear Claw HTR radials and also just put on a set of 1 1/5" wheel spacers to add stability. At 40+ that narrow track the Kodiaks have made be a bit nervous. I'm not really into top speeds, but I imagine the new taller radials should give me a few more mph.

I don't know what the top speed should be, but mine won't get up but to about 30-35.
