ATV Rocks skids and slider package.
ATV Rocks skid and slider package.
They are hand built, and test fitted on his personal Grizzly. They were delivered to me on time, and everything was very well packaged and protected. First thing I noticed is how well these things are made. There are no welds on the skids, everything is cut and bent to fit were it goes. All the supplied fasteners were in their prospective holes.
The supplied instructions are very well done, with color photos. It is best to do the install with the ATV standing on end. I had mine with the front tires on concrete blocks. This worked for me.
Start out with the obvious, remove the stock plastic junk. Install the rear A arm guards, I needed to drill out a hole on each A arm to mount the new guards.
Since I bought the sliders these went on next. Remove the old floor board supports, and install the new heavy duty sliders. Tighten down the screws holding the slider skids.
Now comes the center skid plate. Here I had to tap a couple holes, and drill and tap 2 more. You can choose to just drill the last 2 holes, and fasten them with the supplied nuts & bolts.
Front skid plate goes on now. Install the rear bolts first, these have spacers on them. Center the skid plate and install the front bolts which also have spacers.
Last pieces are the front A arm guards. I had to enlarge 2 hole in the A arms. Reuse the chrome allenhead bolt in the front hole. Snug it up, the check the alignment and install the 2 lower bolts and nuts.
At this point everything is bolted up sung. With the Grizz back on its wheels I checked CV boot clearance. Turn the wheels full lock in each direction. My CV boots were hitting the top tabs of the A arm guards. I used a pair of hand seamers to bend the tab out just a bit to allow clearance.
One more check, and all is good.
The whole job took me about 4 hours in all. I am a bit of a perfectionist, so I realigned a couple of thing till I had everything the way I wanted it.
I’m sure some of you want to know what these things weigh. The shipping label said 49lbs. The bulk of that weight is in the sliders, they are heavy duty. Overall I am very please with the fit and finish of every thing. I only gave them a 7 on bling factor because they are ment to get beat on. Now its time to go rock bashin.

The skids are holding up great. Every time I hear that metal on rock sound it is music to my ears, not to mention money well spent.

Great write up. I have been looking at different brands. It seems these offer the best protection for the boots, correct me if I am wrong.
Jfer,
It's hard to tell from your pictures, but how is the boot protection on the rear of the A-arms front and back? I tore a boot once due to backing up into some brush, costly mistake on my part.
Thanks for any info.
