Howdy From CT
Hey Guys love the website i am a avid atv'er looking for some info on the grizzlys i have a chance to purchase my frist grizzly 700 but had some qustions. The frist one is are the grizzly's depenable?? My prevoius ride was a sportsmen 500 H.O that left me broke down in the woods far away from home and the thing that gets me was polaris did not want to hear about it. It turned out to be a electrical issue so i am defintley not going with a polaris this year.
I don't know if any of you had heard of this but i read on a diffrent forum that the grizzlys "boil" gas in the tank?? Is there any truth to this?
And Last I work sometimes on the weekend doing firewood wood like the grizzly to be able to skid logs out winch tree's there are snaged up and pull the wood trailer, and of course doing what a grizzly dose best roaming the woods looking for adventrue.
Thanks for the help and can;t wait to meet you guys on the trails

I have heard of the boiling gas, but have never experienced it or know of anybody who has. From what I have heard (and this is all hearsay) it was more common on the 660s. Since then, Yamaha has put out a heat shield kit free of charge and can be installed at you local Yamaha dealer. It changes out the side panels with new ones with ribbed vents and puts some extra insulation internally to help keep the heat off the gas tank and your legs. I would have no problem getting a Grizzly. Oh, wait, I already have one. I haven't found any other atv that would make me want to give mine up. I have towed trailers, plowed (snow and dirt), pulled trees out of the ground (nice implement called the brush hog), and dragged lumber. Mine only got hot once while I was doing some very slow technical riding on a downhill rocky trail mid summer. Got to the bottom and my light started flashing. Stopped there for a break (15 min) and didn't have the problem anymore. The grizzly is King of the Beasts and owns the trails. The only disadvantage I see with it is if you want to drag race a V-twin. I don't so, I don't worry about it. It has more than enough power, I have never been stuck (knock knock) and pull several friends out of some sticky situations. If you have the chance, jump on it!

Boiling gas? bought my grizz in september and haven't had a problem with that, the only problem i've had over the last 900 miles is a torn cv boot which was probably my fault, great bike, no compaints, no regrets.

Welcome! What you will find on this site is a a bunch of bias towards the Grizz and Yamaha and rightfully so. I have owned a bunch of machines in my life including a Polaris Sportsman 600 and I will honestly say there has been NO machine that keeps putting a smile on my face like the Grizz does period. Ya you might find one that has more power (Can-Am) or one that might have just a wee bit better rep for reliability (Honda) but you wont find a better all around machine than the Grizz!!!! The boiling gas tank isue was fixed for the 09MY with a larger vent/valve and there are kits avail for older units to correct this minor issue. If you are debating on a new big bore do yourself a favor and pic up a feb issue of Dirt Wheels Mag. It will give you some good info to read on the Grizz and other big bores!!! Good luck and happy trails!

Justin, Welcome GC, the Brotherhood of all things Grizzly.
Everyone has touched on your questions, and as you can see the Grizz as proven to very dependable, not to mention very capable. It work with the best of them, and when its play time, that when the Grizz shines.

I really can't add anything to what has already been said. I had a 700 Sportsman and while it was a good bike, I prefer the Grizzly and haven't had any problems in the eighteen months I have owned it.

Thanks Again
Thank you so much for the warm welcomes and i have def made my choice to buy a grizzly i hope to see you guys on the trails, There is a speacial edition one with a silver armour color that is absoulty beautifull with bear claw going up the side scratching out the name grizzly.
Thanks again guys i can't wait I have one other question i love the outdoors and wildlife i was thinking about this last night why don't they switch the grizzly and the kodiack i from what i read about and seen the kodiack is the biggest bear. So why not put that in a 700cc class and the grizz to lower class?? lol Just a thought that crossed my mind.
I watched the movie the edge last night not with anythony hopkins and i can't wait to have a atv thats is tough as that bear!!
Happy trails and stay safe out there Justin
