grizzly 660 clutch and carb ????

hello there. first off love this site. found a lot of usefull tips. I recently purchased a 04 grizzly 660. I did a couple mods but the 2 I am worried about are rejetting my carb and the clutch. I don't have a wealth of knowledge on carbs but good a following instructions. I bought a dynojet kit and want to install but don't have the first clue. and as for the clutch I took it apart and put in the torque moster clutch kit weights but what I don't know is when I took it out, it was full of dirt and grease. so I cleaned it all up to look like new again. greased and put in the weights and put it back together. just wondering how much grease if any should be on everything else. Thanks for all the help

ok, so I found out about the clutch situation. but as for the carb, its still up in the air. I read on here that you can remove the carb without tanking off the gas tank. does anyone know if this is true or not and which way would be easier?

you'll be less frustrated by removing the tank as getting the throttle cable off the side of the carb can be a pain unless you have good access to it. basically the carb will be held in by the two hose type clamps one to the intake manifold and one to the air box and then you need to remove the choke cable which is easy just turn the nut and slide the choke plunger out of the carb with the cable. The throttle cable will be on the other side and on mine was behind a plate on the side of the carb you need to remove he small screws and that will let you see the cable inside with the sprind loaded return cam. basically you need to push the spring loaded cam back to get slack on the cable and then use needle nose pliers etc.... to turn the cables end so the locking pin will slide out of the cam. Ounce thats done you can loosen the the cab;e from the carb by turning the adjusting nut all the way out and the cable will slide right out. As far as installing the jet kit ounce it's out you'll need to do two things install the new needle and the jet for your mods. The needle is under the top cover of the carb two screws on mine and the top comes off and under that is the large spring and then under that the needle. be careful not to loose the small plastic pieces under the spring. There will be a plastic washer on the needle that may neet to be modified by using a small drill bit by hand to fit the Dinojet needle (look at the Dynojet instructions to make sure as your kit may be different form my 600) and it will tell you in the kit which notch to put the e clip on the needle. ounce thats setup put the nedle back in with the washer etc... as it was. and put the spring and cap back on and that part is done then you need to read the instructions and see which main jet they recomend you use and that is installed by flipping the carb upside down and removing the screws on the bottom of the carb 2 on mine that hold thrfloat bowl onto the carb it's the area that fills up with gas. Be careful as you take the carb apart not to damage the rubber gasket its reusable as long as it doesn't get ripped. You will see the main jet right in the center of the carb you might need to remove the float but if you do be very careful s the plastic gets brittle after a long time in fuel. Either way all you need is a small flat head screwdriver to unscrew the jet and screw in the Dynojet part. While you have it apart it might be a good idea to clean the insides with some good carb cleaner just to make sure no grit or sludge is in there. Other than that just carefully ut it back together. One last thing is you might need to readjust the pilot screw which is really small and is located on on the bottom of the carb and is done with the carb assembled. On mine it said to do three turns out so you turn the scre carefully just till it seats dont crank it or you will damage the pilot screw and then turn it back out the specified number of turns in the kit. Thats about it put it back together and see how it runs might need to fiddle with the pilot screw to get the best running setup some people seem to have issues where they run too rich (too much fuel at idle) and if thats the case tun it in a little at a time until it's good. Hope this helps and good luck.
