Just made my 1st ATV purchase, and picked up a 2011 550 EPS for a decent price. Obviously the ATV has had its share of abuse because I am finding more and more mods done to it the longer I look. I do have a few questions tho.
Are any parts interchangeable between the grizzlys 550,660,700?
I have already fouled out 1 spark plug after about 1.5 hours of riding. I was told that these EFI 550s come tuned lean from the factory. I just learned about something to check in the muffler which may help. I cleaned the air filter and box which was awfully dirty. Any other ideas why this is happening?
Other then some changes and updates to the 700 (686cc) from earlier to later years, the 550 and 700 have many interchangeable parts and are of the same generation of chassis. Only real major mechanical difference between both bikes are, head, cylinder, crankshaft, counterweight, throttle body, and as fare as CVTs spring and weights.
The 660 on the other hand is a completely different and older generation thus not as good of an option.
Welcome from Colorado.
The C.V.T. system works the same on all 3 models but there are different parts designs regulating the system operation. I have 700 weights in my 660, and have tried 550 weights years ago as an example. We can help you more when we know what system you are focused on.
As for the E.F.I. and plug fowling, was that a new plug you installed that failed after 1.5. hours? Was the gas fresh of stale? The exhaust thingy you mentioned is probably the spark arrestor that may be packed with soot and in need of cleaning.
If you tell us about your suspected mods, we can help you understand more about your ride.

Thanks for the tips. My only goal for the bike is to Not tear it up, and not dump alot of money into it. I already have to many expensive other hobbies. I just want it to be reliable. My only plans are to improve the intake/exhaust system, and possibly add a wench. So far all I can tell is the bike has a Highlifter 2" lift, and some 28" tall tires. I would like to dial the CVT system in to where it allows the bike to perform its best over all.
It was after a new plug, but before I cleaned the air filter, filter lid and housing, and the inlet to to the TB. Eventually I need to remove the TB and give it a cleaning as Im sure its gunked up. Im gonna remove the exhaust tip and spark arrestor tomorrow and inspect that.
