As a Boeing employeee, it makes me proud everytime we launch a new aircraft. I got to watch the live feed of this yesterday and it was just incredible.

There is so much more that Boeing does besides aircraft. I myself work on ballistic missiles, both defensive (GMD) and offensive (Minuteman III), and support the F-15 programs for both the Republic of Korea and Singapore.

We are a great company with great products.

IF IT AIN'T BOEING, I AIN'T GOING!

Competitor rebuttle. I now work for GE. Prior to GE buying the plant, I worked at the Martin Marrettia (Lockheed-Martin) Aviation plant in Middleriver Md. I did QA for the GE engines, Space shuttle parts, and F-16 components. I tried to get over to the Naval Vertical Launch systems we also assembled for the sub, but never made it.

Although I did contract under Washington Group for Boeing down at Cape Canaveral on the Delta IV rocket Vertical Launch Pad.

Both great companies working for a great nation !!

So what are your thoughts on the new US tanker battle between Airbus and Boeing?

Does not seem right to have a foreign country building a tanker for the American military.

Go to Boeing: The Real American Tankers and see what Boeing's take is on the whole thing.

How do we talk about this without violating rules. Seems it will get pretty political. Lets see if there is a mod with the gahonies to edit this.
I don't agree with GE in their business approach for external jobs, but they are a global company. And I know your not going to sit there and try and tell me Boeing doesn't outsource any jobs either. In fact I think one of the worst decisions ever made by a president was putting NAFTA in place. Thank you Mr. Clinton.
American Built, American Strong, American Pride.
Now if we could just get the unions on board with this, we would be ok. BTW, I am NOT pro-union.

I do not see this as political. This is just a link to one of the top competitors in the tanker business. There are links to certain elected officials that discuss this but I would not put them in as it would violate forum rules. We can discuss the political motivations on another board.

I am pro-Boeing and pro-US jobs but we need to get the warfighter a tanker that will do the mission and do it quickly.

I did my 20 years at Boeing at Everett before I left there, and too, funny small world, also did robotics/automation on the Delta IV rocket too.

The "new" Boeing as an employer SUCKS compared to what it used to be before off-loading and outsourcing 85% of it's work across the globe. Save a dime pay a dollar for all the re-work.
It is just like B-52s. They just introduce new models which are really just upgrades to past models.

I do not know how good the "old" Boeing was. I hear all the stories of how great it was before the Rockwell merger and M/D merger but I was not around for those. I will say it is a helluva lot better than being in the military.

I feel the same way about the Air Force my son is in now compared to when I was in. My dad felt the same way about the AF when I was in compared to when he was in.

NEW AIR FORCE is like NEW BOEING in your eyes... it sucks!

Things change and there are reasons for those changes. Sadly, not all of those changes are good or well thought out.

Thanks for your perspective.
