Recently purchased '07 450. Ran well five months then died while idling and won't restart. Drained gas tank. Carb looks relatively new. Checking spark plug next. Any other ideas? I store it an hour "off the grid" so have to bring what I need with me for repairs.

Check for spark first thing. I would replace the spark plug just to rule it out.

If you have spark, verify fuel flow to the carb. Do this by loosening the carb drain and letting it drain for 10 seconds or so.

If you have no spark, then you will need to test and me inspect the reason for this.

If you have spark and fuel, then in my experience, almost all instances that a Yamaha just shut off while idling and then will not restart, it has been a sheared flywheel woodruff key. But this is a little labour intensive to inspect, so I would rule out everything else before assuming this to be worthy of inspection.

Make sure that you did not bump the kill switch.

Hey...navydave79...Welcome to GC from Wisconsin,

Check that the fuel shut off is working and not plug with gunk.
Check that the needle and seat are clean and not sticking.
Check and set the float level in the carburetor.
