New 2019 Grizz is finally in my possession. Ordered a set of 14" STI HD9 Beadlocks, now onto tires. I want a square set up and like the way that the SE comes with 27x10x14 zillas.

What's your square set up? I'm thinking of going with Interco Reptile 26x10x14 or the Zilla 27x10x14. Pros, cons?

I know I'll need a clutch shim (1.5mm) but will a spring be necessary as well?

If it matters, my riding is mostly 50% trails that are hardpack and loose dirt (treestand roads). 30% snow/mud and 20% mix lol

I need something that digs hard and climbs like a goat. Especially in the winter.

Add the shim to your primary pulley and if the belt slips change the spring.

or instead of a 1.5mm shim consider the coop45 mod. Is sitting in my shed and waits for install together with a purple spring...however, he recommends a gold for 27/28 tires...

What is the coop 45 mod? And you say good for 27" tires, so if I go with the 26" reptiles over the 27" zillas would purple be a better option? The reptiles weigh a little more

Coop45 is a guy that machined my primary sheave (among many others) to achieve lower initial cvt gearing ratios then can be achieved with shims, but without the top speed loss that the shims are known for.Basically you get your cake and eat it to....

No matter what tires you select 1.5 mm of shims and a purple spring will work great

Hell I have a buddy that's been running his 2009 700 Grizzly for 10 years with 27 " Swamp Lite's on 14" wheels with Zero clutch mods and has never had any issues turning those heavy tires / wheel combo threw anything.

I have never heard of that!! But that sounds like a legitimate UPGRADE! Now, with the "coop45 sheave" will the purple spring and 1.5 mm shims even be necessary? Is his name on GC coop45?

I have a 2019 SE with a square tire setup. 27x10-14 Zillas that came stock. For trail riding I don't see any need in clutch mods. In 2019 the Grizz got a 6% gear reduction and its got great pep for me. If you put a larger set of heavy radial tires on your grizzly or if you ride a lot of thick mud I could see doing clutch mods, but in stock form I have no complaints.

His name is Arnie Cooper. Yes the purple spring will be necessary. Shims are no longer required with this sheave thought many of us add another 0.05 or 0.07 shim to get the absolute max low end torque. These are all Aprox numbers for comparison.

-As an example stock initial cvt ratio is about 2.45:1

-1.5 mm of shims will take you to about 2.75:1
with around 3 mph loss.

-Arnie's machined sheave will achieve near or at 3:1 With Zero top speed loss

-With a 0.5mm shim, my machined sheave is at 3.1:1 With only about 1 mph loss.

That's 27% lower gearing from a dead stop in high and low range!

This is definitely some helpful information!! I will for sure be looking to do that. On the other hand, I believe I'll be trying out the 27x10x14 square Zilla setup. Does anyone have any experience working these? I ride mountains and trails and the occasional pavement to get to and from trails. My terrain is grass, dirt, rocks and snow in the winter.. ride a lot of the Hatfield McCoy trails here I'm Southern WV too. They are typical hardpack.
