So a bit of back story, my brother has a Grizzly and I have a Kodiak for work. The Kodiak needed gas and the Grizzly was just sitting there... With a full tank, so I did what any older brother would do and stole his gas haha. Anyway, I find out later it was premix (he'll use whatever is in any gas can, including diesel at one point, that wasn't fun for me to fix), or so I assume, considering the Kodiak has oil dripping out of the exhaust and black soot everywhere.
My only concern is if the exhaust looks like this what could the converter possibly look like, I don't want to neglect it and have it fail on me prematurely, so is there an easy way to clean it, or is it going to require soaking the whole exhaust system in a solvent while off the bike, or is there nothing to worry about? It's a bone stock '17 700.

I don't think i'd worry about one tank. You could run one tank of fuel with chevron techron concentrate mixed at the right ratio if it really bothered you. I use techron once in a while and have had great success with it cleaning my fuel system. If you have noticeable black spooge from the 2 stroke oil, it is a pain to clean. I have a 2 stroke motocross so i know this job well. I highly doubt you have too much from one tank. I say just run it and save yourself a lot of work.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong... But I didn't think the Kodiak 700 or any of the new 708's have a catalytic converter. Looks like a basic exhaust system to me: https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/yamaha/atv/2017/kodiak-700-eps-4wd-yfm70kpxhg/exhaust

Either way, just one tank of premix has been run through it.... So I agree with ross, run clean gas through it from now on and not worry about it.

The catalytic converter is built into the muffler. They have had them since 2014.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry too much about it either. Maybe just remove the exhaust spark arrestor assembly and clean that out as that something that is supposed to be done from time to time anyway.

I was looking through the service manual for the periodic checks and noticed an item called a spark arrestor.

Off to Google I went and through the manual to see how to clean in it.

I guess that is next on my list.
