Front differential: groove in right side spline socket
I don't know what to call it but is this groove normal. At first I thought it was the circlip that wore a groove in there but I'm not sure.

The groove goes down in a spiral like a corkscrew. Am I correct in assuming that it's to let grease through or has it been badly worn?

Excellent. Thanks Dezz. When I first saw that groove after taking the CV shaft out, my first reaction was "Sh?t, that doesn't look good".
