I have an 02 660 runs good smooth no noise until you hit rear brake. It sounds horrible like the splines in shaft are slipping!??! Shaft has no slop. I put the quad against a tree forward and reverse.... no noise when throttled. Hit the brakes and it sounds like gears inside are stripped. Can anyone help?????

Are you talking about the ratcheting sound from the rear under hard braking? Or something else?

The ratcheting sound under hard braking is apparently normal, but I don't know what causes it.

Are your rear break pads worn out?
