I think I need to replace my starter bendix. In trying to get my grizz to run after replacing the pickup coil I was cranking on it then it seemed to back fire through the carb twice very fast. Now when I hit the button it makes a nasty clacking sort of sound. If it turn on the pull start with a socket it doesn't make the noise. I've tried to look on here but I never really found what I needed. It seems like I need to pull the left side cover off and I've seen I need to use a puller to pull the "rotor" off. I'm assuming that is the magnet that goes with the stator? Can anyone help me out as far as a procedure or video on how to do this?

The "rotor" he is talking about is the flywheel. It must be removed. You'll need a puller for it.
I have got them off without a puller before (more than once actually), but I do not recommend it. You can do serious damage.

Well I went for it and my puller worked like a dream. But I found another washer in the oil sump. Should there be 2 on the bendix?
